My plan is to make Keighley and Ilkley the best places to live, work and raise a family. Tackling violent crime and safeguarding the vulnerable in our community is a key part of it. And our hard work is paying off. Crime is down by 21% in West Yorkshire thanks to our action plan and the hard work of police officers. Families are safer now that criminal damage is down by 36% in our area since 2010.
I've also campaigned for a change in the law so that police officers have new powers to combat violent crime and child sexual exploitation.
I know more needs to be done. I've held meetings with senior police officers to discuss anti-social behaviour in our towns and villages. They have told me their ideas to reduce crime even further and I'll carry on working with them to make life safer and secure a better future for everyone.
