| In
1998, Kris was elected to serve his local ward of Worth Valley
on Bradford
Council.
He became portfolio holder for social services and council housing,
before taking on the corporate portfolio.
His achievements over
this period included overseeing the delivery of housing stock
transfer in Bradford, the creation of Bradford Care Trust and
the building of five new children's homes, as a well as a commissioning
process for the Council's community development provision.
Kris was chosen as Deputy Leader of Bradford Council in 2004 and,
two years later, was elected Leader of the Council and Leader
of the Conservative Group.
He now
combines these roles with the Chairmanships of Bradford Vision
- the Local Strategic Partnership - and the Yorkshire and Humber
Regional Housing Board.
He also serves as a member of the Yorkshire
and Humber Assembly Executive, Local Government Yorkshire and
Humber Executive, the Association of West Yorkshire Authorities
and the Local Government International Bureau's International
Development Consultative Group.
In
his spare time, Kris is a feverishly active walker and runner
and an able photographer with published shots amongst his credits. |
